Indoor Activities for Kids in South Surrey White Rock

Family

As a mom living on the rainy west coast I’m well accustomed to getting the kids geared up in their Muddy Buddies and heading outside during our rainy season aka – October – April. However, some days pushing a soggy stroller and dealing with muddy boots simply doesn’t appeal and I have to find some fun indoor activities for kids.

Having recently returned to South Surrey White Rock I needed some inspiration to get out of the house with my 1 & 3-year-old so I asked the awesome community of South Surrey White Rock moms in the South Rock Moms Facebook group for their suggestions and here’s their list of the best indoor activities for kids around South Surrey White Rock perfect for keeping kids entertained on rainy days!

Offering 5 & 10 pin bowling Sandcastle Lanes is a great indoor activity for kids and well the whole family! Kids under 5 will love 5 pin bowling as the balls are smaller, bumpers are in the gutters and there’s a stand which allows the little’s to aim and bowl right down the middle. Plus, the bowling alley serves drinks including craft beer and has a full kitchen making it a great place to have fun indoors.

Dining out with kids can be stressful unless you head to the Wooden Spoon – White Rock & South Surrey’s only restaurant with a dedicated kids playroom! Designed to entertain kids of all ages there’s a big screen TV connected to Apple TV, a play kitchen and countless other toys. The play area is set away from the dining area which can be good and bad depending on your child. If you have a runner you’ll definitely want to stay close so be sure to request the back booth next to the play area.

Aside from providing the kids with a fun place to play the Wooden Spoon is one of the best and most popular restaurants in the community. There’s nothing on their menu I haven’t loved (especially if you start with the Mom’s Breakfast) and my husband swears the Spoon Burger is one of the best burgers he has ever had. The Wooden Spoon is a true win/win as an indoor activity for kids and parents – if you go there make sure to tell them Experience South Rock sent ya!

Living in White Rock with a 3 year old obsessed with trains I’ve learned the best chance to guarantee a train sighting is to watch for the Amtrak Cascades which runs past White Rock Beach 4 times a day. Times are noted above!

McDonald’s on 152nd – Play Place

McDonalds Play Place is one of the best indoor activities for kids in South Surrey White Rock

  • When: Daily 5am – 10pm
  • Where: 1789 152 St, Surrey

Many of us grew up in McDonald’s Play Places whipping play balls with a side of fries at each other. In South Surrey White Rock the ‘up-town” McDonalds is the only one with a play structure. It’s smaller than most Play Places but it’s easily accessible for kids who can crawl. It’s all on one level and with only two exits it makes it easy for parents to sit back and enjoy your Big Mac (or Egg McMuffin!) while the kids chase each other around.
