More Parks You Must Visit in White Rock and South Surrey – The South Rock Park Adventure (Pt. 2)

Family Living Nature Travel

We get it- we all need a little bit of a vacation sometimes. However, we also know that sometimes work schedules don’t line up, budgets are too tight, or that it just takes too much time and effort to plan one. Sound familiar? Then we encourage you to be a tourist in your own city, to start appreciating what you might not see every day. But we’re not talking about the White Rock promenade here. This is the South Rock Park Adventure.

With over 75 different parks to visit, South Surrey and White Rock have no shortage of beautiful and diverse parks. From kids’ playgrounds, to beautifully landscaped garden parks, to forest staircases that lead out to the Pacific Ocean, there’s definitely something for everybody. Luckily for you, all of these parks are within reach, no longer than an hour’s drive away from each other. That’s why we’ve partnered with Murray Hyundai White Rock to bring you six must-visit parks that also conveniently showcase a gorgeous and scenic drive. Although this is mainly about the destination, who says the journey can’t be just as good?

Don’t forget that you can have the chance to win the All-New Hyundai KONA that we’ve highlighted here through the Your South Rock Adventure contest!

Locations of the South Rock Park Adventure

3. Ruth Johnson Park

Address: 14600 North Bluff Rd, White Rock, BC

Ruth Johnson Park is by far White Rock’s largest park. Home to a beautiful trail that overlooks the Semiahmoo Bay, it also borders two equally spectacular parks worth visiting. Centennial Park to the north features tennis courts, an all-abilities playground, an off-leash dog area, a baseball pitch, soccer field, and even a curling arena. This means that there’s something to do for literally everybody in the family. To the south of Ruth Johnson Park and across Marine Drive is the waterfront Bayview Park. With several picnic tables again overlooking Semiahmoo Bay, you really can’t get a better view while enjoying lunch.

This is where we recommend you grab lunch at one of the many nearby restaurants. You’ll need energy for the next stop! Now hop back into your car and head down beautiful Marine Drive westward towards the next stop…

4. Kwomais Point & 1001 Steps

Address: 1367 128th St, Surrey, BC

Kwomais Point is easily the best-uninterrupted vantage point you’ll have of Semiahmoo Bay. This is only made better by the fact that it is completely isolated from the hustle and bustle of the city. Furthermore, if you want to get up close to the water itself, the 1001 steps, a convenient (and slightly challenging) hike down, is only a block away to the north. This is a perfect place to get your exercise in, surrounded by the beauty of nature, and to be rewarded with one of the most beautiful sights imaginable.

Once you’ve reached your step count for the day, you can start driving north towards Crescent Beach to reach our next location, which will be revealed on the last segment of the South Rock Park Adventure!

Stay tuned for the South Rock Park Adventure (Pt. 3)

If you’re unable to experience these parks any time soon, you can live it out in this video we created that highlights both of these beautiful parks:
